Privacy policy
Last updated:
This notice, provided under Articles 13 and 14 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (“GDPR”), explains what personal data we process when you visit this website, why, and what rights you have.
It covers only the GuideMyVisit presentation website. The GuideMyVisit app (mobile and web) and GuideMyVisit Studio have their own privacy notices, available inside each service.
1. Data controller
The data controller is GuideMyVisit S.r.l., Via Guido Sinopoli, 5, 31015 Conegliano (TV), Italia. For any privacy question you can write to .
2. What data we process
Browsing data. Like any website, the servers hosting this site automatically log some technical data about your browser’s requests: IP address, date and time, page or resource requested, response code, browser and operating system type, referring page. We do not use it to identify or profile you.
Visit statistics. We count visits to the site with Matomo, which uses first-party analytics cookies: what it collects, why your consent is not needed and how to object are explained in section 4.
Data you send us. If you write to us through the contact form, by email or by phone, we process the data you choose to share (name, email address, organisation or company if you give it, topic and content of your message) in order to reply. The form delivers your message to us as an email, together with the language and the page of the site you wrote from.
Spam protection. To protect the contact form from abuse we use a hidden field and keep your IP address in the server’s memory for 10 minutes, then forget it; we do not share it with anyone. We use no captcha or third-party services.
Preferences stored in your browser. The site remembers in your browser whether you chose the light or dark theme, whether you prefer simplified animations and, if you ask, that you do not want to be counted in the statistics. This information stays on your device and is not sent to us: see the cookie policy for details.
The site has no reserved areas or newsletter, and uses no profiling or advertising tools.
3. Purposes and legal bases
- Running the site, keeping it secure and preventing abuse (browsing data): the controller’s legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
- Understanding, in aggregate form, how the site is used in order to improve it (visit statistics): the controller’s legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The analytics cookies do not require consent because they meet the conditions of the Italian Data Protection Authority’s guidelines of 10 June 2021 (section 4).
- Replying to your requests (data you send us): pre-contractual measures or legitimate interest in following up your request, Art. 6(1)(b) and 6(1)(f) GDPR.
- Complying with legal obligations and, where necessary, establishing, exercising or defending legal claims: Art. 6(1)(c) and 6(1)(f) GDPR.
4. Visit statistics (Matomo)
To find out how many people visit the site, which pages they read and where they come from, we use Matomo, open-source software installed on our own server (analytics.guidemyvisit.com). The statistics stay with us: we do not pass them on to third parties or use them for advertising or profiling.
What it collects. The pages visited and their titles; the date, time and duration of the visit; the website, search engine or campaign you came from; clicks on the buttons leading to the GuideMyVisit app, GuideMyVisit Studio and the app stores, on links to other websites and on our email address and phone number; submission of the contact form, of which it records only the topic you chose, never your details or your message; language, device type, operating system, browser and screen resolution; the country you connect from, approximately.
Anonymised IP address. Matomo records the IP address only after deleting its last two bytes (for example, 192.168.1.25 becomes 192.168.0.0), so it can no longer be traced back to your connection. We use no features that identify users, we do not combine the statistics with other data and we only look at them in aggregate form.
Cookies. Matomo stores up to three first-party cookies in your browser: _pk_id, holding a random code that tells new visits from returning ones without telling us who you are; _pk_ses, which groups the pages of a single visit; and _pk_ref, only if you arrive from another website or a campaign link. Durations and details are in the cookie policy.
Why we do not ask for consent. The Italian Data Protection Authority’s guidelines of 10 June 2021 treat analytics cookies like technical cookies, which require no consent, when they are used only for aggregate statistics on a single website, without directly identifying people, with the IP address masked and without combining the data with other data. Matomo is configured this way, which is why the site shows no banner.
You can object at any time. Use the switch below to exclude your visits: we immediately delete Matomo’s cookies and from then on send it nothing; on the following pages this browser does not even load it. Your choice is saved in the browser (gmv-analytics-optout, in localStorage): if you clear the site’s data or use another browser or device, you will need to make it again.
Your visits count towards the site’s aggregate statistics.
5. Third-party services
OpenFreeMap maps. The maps in the navigation demos are downloaded from the OpenFreeMap service (tiles.openfreemap.org), based on OpenStreetMap data. To receive the map tiles your browser connects to that server, which receives your IP address and the technical data of the request, as with any web resource.
Store links. Links to the App Store and Google Play open Apple and Google websites, which process data under their own privacy notices.
6. Who we share data with
Data is processed by authorised staff of GuideMyVisit S.r.l. and by the providers that support us with hosting and technical management of the site, the statistics and email, appointed as processors under Art. 28 GDPR. It may be disclosed to authorities where required by law. We do not sell or publish your data.
7. How long we keep data
- Browsing data: for as long as strictly necessary for the security and proper operation of the site, then deleted periodically; longer only if needed to investigate offences or abuse.
- Visit statistics: the detailed visit data, with the IP address already anonymised, for as long as needed to produce the statistics, then deleted periodically; only aggregate reports remain, which contain no personal data. Matomo’s cookies expire after 13 months at most (details in the cookie policy).
- Data you send us: for as long as needed to handle your request and any relationship that follows, in line with legal time limits.
- Preferences in your browser: for the durations shown in the cookie policy; you can delete them at any time from your browser settings.
8. Providing data
Browsing data is necessary to visit the site; visit statistics are not, and you can opt out as described in section 4. Sending data through the contact form, by email or by phone is optional, but without it we cannot reply.
9. Your rights
At any time you can ask to access your data, rectify or erase it, restrict its processing, receive it in a portable format and object to processing based on legitimate interest (Articles 15–22 GDPR). To object to the visit statistics, simply use the switch in section 4.
To exercise your rights write to . If you believe the processing breaches the GDPR you can lodge a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority or with the supervisory authority of the EU country where you live or work.
10. Automated decisions
We do not take decisions based solely on automated processing, including profiling.
11. Changes
We may update this notice, for example if the services used by the site change. The date of the last update is shown at the top of the page.
